The last days of summer are approaching, but that doesn’t mean that the fun has run out! Lee’s Summit and Kansas City still have plenty of exciting events, if you know where to look! We’ve done the searching for you so that you won’t miss out on any of the fun activities going on this August.

Elephant Baths
EVENT DATE: Saturday, August 11 & Sunday, August 12, 1:00 – 1:30 pm
Kansas City Zoo
Even elephants need baths! The Kansas City Zoo is home to seven elephants, and you get a front-row seat to bath time! Zookeepers will help these marvelous creatures cool down with fire hoses promptly at 1 pm, so don’t be late! No registration is required; you only have to pay zoo entrance fees. The Zoo has tons of great events for families, as well as amazing volunteer opportunities.
A Night In Havana
EVENT DATE: Monday, August 20, 7:30 pm
MTH Theater, Crown Center Shops
Add a little culture to your Monday with this fun date night! Join the Ensemble Iberica for an evening of traditional Cuban music direct from Havana. Tickets are $20.00 per person – make sure you get yours before they’re all gone!
Fourth Fridays Art Walk
EVENT DATE: Friday, August 24, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Downtown Lee’s Summit
The theme for this month’s Art Walk is “Art in the Alleys.” Wander the streets of downtown Lee’s Summit while you enjoy art, music, and theatre. Keep an eye out for a chance to get bendy with Yoga in the Streets! This is the last Art Walk of the summer, so don’t miss out on this opportunity to make memories.
Kansas City Irish Fest
EVENT DATE: Friday, August 31 – Sunday, September 2
Crown Center
Kansas City is incredibly proud of its Celtic Heritage, and you won’t find better evidence of that than at Irish Fest! The gates open at 5:00 pm on Friday and the fun doesn’t stop until 11:00 pm on Sunday. Experience Irish culture, music, food, crafts, and more!
