With all of this cold weather, it’s easy to neglect caring for your vein health. However, now is the most important time to focus on the health of your veins. Summit Skin and Vein Care has put together some tips to help care for your veins this winter.

Get Your Blood Pumping

The best way to care for your veins is to stay active. During the winter, it’s easy for us to curl up on the couch and not want to get up and move. Need some motivation to keep your veins in shape?

Try these ideas:

  • Walk the stairs in your house
  • Yoga
  • High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) (if your joints can handle it)
  • Take a quick walk outside
  • Have a dancing date night with your partner

Hydrate

Drinking enough water is very important to vein health. When you are dehydrated your blood thickens, making it much slower when traveling through your veins. Try carrying a water bottle around with you at all times – it’s a great way to stay hydrated.

Prop Up Your Feet

Make sure to take time to elevate your feet, especially if you have varicose veins. By raising your feet above your heart, you will give the veins in your legs a much-needed break.

Get Treatment for Your Varicose and Spider Veins

If your varicose or spider veins are bothering you, a great and permanent solution is to seek treatment. Summit Skin and Vein is here for you. We offer free vein screening, so you know all of your options before getting them treated.
